Welcome to the Materials Modelling Group Site

The materials modelling group is a tightly knit group in the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering, which specialises in the computational modelling of materials using sophisticated quantum mechanical approaches. Our work ranges from the processing, control and characterisation of defects in semiconductors, to the functionalisation of silicon quantum dots. Several specimens of our work are included on this site. We have developed our own modelling software AIMPRO, the Ab Initio Modelling Program, which underpins much of our work. It is our aim to produce results which are of both academic and technological interest.

The group currently consists of three researchers occupying established posts and six research students, but we are usually interested in recruiting further students or research assistants. Research grants active over the previous three years exceed £700,000.
